Patchwork and Quilting Workshop – Tuesday 12, 19, 26 March – 6:30pm – 9pm
Over 3 sessions make a simple 9-patch cot or lap quilt, finished size around 110cm square.
Learn how to cut fabric accurately and quickly using a rotary cutter, acrylic ruler and cutting mat; arrange your pieces in a pleasing design and stitch them together by machine with ¼ inch seams. Layer your pieced quilt top with wadding and a backing fabric to make a quilt sandwich which you will then pin or tack together. Machine or hand quilt. Cut and attach a binding to the edges.
No experience necessary but enthusiasm and application essential. Once you have learnt these basic skills, the world of patchwork and quilting will be open to you.
We will provide: rotary cutter, acrylic rulers and cutting mats; sewing machines with 1/4inch feet and walking feet; curved safety pins; fabric scissors. Cotton sewing threads to suit your fabrics, basic sewing kit – small scissors, pins, needles etc.
