Going on a late summer holiday and want to look unique and fun?Love your sandals but they need a bit of love back from you? This is the workshop for you!
In this workshop you will get busy putting personal style into your own sandals by applying trims, buttons, bows and ribbons etc. It’s amazing what can be achieved using simple trims in the spirit of fun and creativity! At the end of the workshop you will have upcycled your sandals in a unique way.
What do you need to bring?• A pair of sandals which are a bit the worse for wear, that you are prepared to upcycle. Note: Please bring sandals you are prepared to experiment on. The end result may not match the vision in your head, however, your sandals will have a new look at the end of the workshop and you will have created something wonderful! (see disclaimer below).• Bring any buttons, broaches, beads, jewellery, fabric you have at home which you could use to upcycle your sandals. If you think it might look nice on your sandals – bring it!• An apron or an old t-shirt to avoid getting your clothes too messy.• Your willingness to be creative and try something new alongside other friendly people.
What is provided?• A selection of trims, buttons, ribbons, feathers and other random assorted bits and pieces.• Hot glue guns (safe and easy to use, with accurate glue positioning).• Sewing threads, pins, needles.
You can expect to:• Have fun with other friendly people.• Learn to trust your own creativity.• Experiment with upcycling your sandals.

About the facilitator: Rositta Priestley, HatsOff BootsOn, is a shoemaker / milliner and a facilitator of upcycling workshops. Local to SE25, she adores bringing new life to favourite items of clothing and is excited to bring you this workshop to help you enhance your summer look. In the process of upcycling you will be helping to conserve the earth’s resources by showing respect for existing materials in reusing what you have already bought.
Rositta has 25 years of experience as shoemaker, including 6 years as part of a shoemaking cooperative and several years for a bespoke shoemaker in London. She was also delighted to head up the trial period for teaching fundamental shoemaking skills at Morley College.
