Handwoven Classic Striped Linen - White/Black
A sophisticated, lightweight, white linen with vertical grey stripes. A lightweight material handwoven by a small cooperative in India.
Handwoven linen fabric with beautiful vertical stripes in varying shades of grey. It has a warm, subtly textured feel with a soft, dry handle. It is breathable, lightweight and suitable for projects, particularly for summer garments, including blouses, shirts, easy loungewear, summer trousers and dresses. It will also work beautifully for light blankets, quilts, sheer blinds and accessories. It washes extremely well and gets softer and more characterful with every wash.

Ethical and Sustainability Considerations: Derived from the flax plant – the second-most highly productive fibre crop after hemp – linen can grow with limited use of herbicides, pesticides, or other chemicals. Linen production also uses very little water; the flax plant can thrive with just rainwater and without irrigation. And, when we consider that it can take 2,700 litres of water to produce enough cotton to make a single T-shirt, linen is a fantastic, sustainable option.

To care for your product: Suitable for washing machines on lower heats and tumble dryers. Wash with similar colours. To protect fabrics for longer, hand wash in cool water. Turn the machine down to 30 degrees for a more environmentally friendly wash. In Europe alone, if every household turned its washing temperature down to 30°C, we could save 12 million tons of CO2 a year. Suitable for irons medium temperature. We recommend line drying as this reduces energy usage and looks after your textiles for longer (as they don't get bashed around in your tumble dryer). Use a mild detergent, light botanical refresher or even steam the item you've made in your bathroom after a shower.
Natural handwoven fabrics have a natural tendency to shrink 3-5%, so please wash this textile before you sew.
